Hi everyone,

just wanted to do a short tiny Journal post about what I'm currently doing.
I installed UT2003 again yesterday after many years, been playing UT2004 mainly, but I started with UT2003 in 2005 (I think) and I thought, since the games are so identical (almost) why not make a version of the Rig I did for UT2004 for UT2003.
Turns out its a little more complicated than I thought, I can't just use Krystal from 2004 in 2003, I have to rework her files a bit, specificaly the animation data. It didn't help that I was quite out of it and had to re-learn what to do in Unreal Editor to get it right. I'll also be looking into doing the Adventures Model, but for right now I'm focusing on the Assault Model.
I'll keep this post updated with my progress!

Progress Report:

Update 1:
She Runs in 2003 just fine, textures work, animations work, I'm currently adjusting the relation of her feet to the ground, knowing me this can take a while.
While I'm at it I'll also be doing the same adjustment to the UT2004 model, expect a update later on for it.
The only thing that doesn't want to show up in 2003 is her Bio, not sure if I can fix that though, but it's not a big deal as long as she works ingame.

Update 2:
KrystalAssault Model fully done for UT2003, adjustments have also been made for the UT2004 Version!
Now working on Krystal from StarFox Adventures for UT2003, adjustments for the UT2004 Version will follow afterwards.
Bio Text can't be done in UT2003 like in UT2004, I know where to put the Text now though, however I have not been able to make it work. If I should get it to work (which I doubt I will) it would have to be copied into a system file manually via a Text Editor by the user.

Update 3:
The Models are done, I think. I'll double check though!
I have also tweaked the UT2004 Version now, so updates to them will probably happen first.
The Bio Text remains non-working after more testing.

Hey everyone,

sorry I've been so mute lately, thing is, I have a pretty busy time at the moment (work, small spare time, you know the drill). When I come home it's usually straight to bed, maybe an Anime/Cartoon Episode before that and that's my day pretty much. So, sorry that I have not been able to draw much (or at all) the last few weeks.

Currently I'm also trying to save up cash for a new tablet, I'm not sure which one I'll be able to get but I hope it'll be at least a little bit bigger than my Bamboo. I have been browsing Amazon and other sites to see what's out there and I've seen Wacom's Cintiq 13HD tablet. It has a very nice price for a Cintiq, a full HD display at 13.3 Inches and I heard it's pretty robust. I have included it in my list of possible tablets I could potentially save up enough for.
In general I have noticed a (fairly recent) HUGE increase in products of the Built-in-Monitor-Pen-Tablets (like the Cintiq) sector from other manufacturers, usually at a fraction of the cost one would have to pay for a Cintiq. Right now I have not come across a "Cintiq killer" though, they all seem to be lacking in a few departments to the point where most are rather uninteresting for me still. Either the resolution is really low, the pen has a battery, cables are to messy or the screen has bad viewing angles amongst other things. The Monoprice 19" Pen Tablet Display seems like a good option though, at only 400 Dollars and with a (from what I heard) more accurate Digitizer than Wacom's a pretty good value overall, it's screen has bad viewing angles though and the stylus requires a charger (but a battery charge is supposed to last a long time). Definitely the best value I've seen so far.
I'm actually glad the market is expanding with more cheaper options, competition is good for business and Wacom (as much as I like their products) have had a monopoly going on for far to long and their prices could be a bit more affordable. I think this competition is only going to lead to products with better prices and in the end, we as customers can only benefit from that development.

All in all I'm not sure what I'm going to be able to afford in the end, but it's always good to have a few options on the table to choose from, so yeah, that's all I wanted to say for now. Not sure when I'll be able to pick up the pen again to do some regular drawing and stuff (like I said, busy busy busy), but when I do it'll show up here like in the past. :)

Cheers guys! =3

Just wanted to quickly inform everyone here that as of today I have a new Harddrive that I will install in my computer very very soon (probably today even) and that because of this, new pictures and work on models will have to be delayed for probably a week until I have this system in fully working order again.
This is absolutely necessary btw. my Computer is as slow as a slug, it takes over 10 minutes for it to be usable once I hit the power button and I have barely any space free (right now I have 10 GB of free space left on a 1TB HDD), and a simple reinstall of the OS won't do me any good either since I don't want to delete a majority of stuff just to get a few gigs of space again.

Hopefully this will also improve performance for games a little! ^^

The New Harddrive is a Western Digital "Blue" WD10EZEX, its again a 1 TB Capacity one and has 64MB of Cache on board. My current Samsung one that came with this PC has lasted me for 4 years and still does, but I feel it's time to upgrade before it starts to fail on me one day.

Only one thing left for me to figure out, I wanna connect the new one as a primary (master) Harddrive and the old Samsung one, at least temporarily, as a secondary (slave) one so I can grab all my stuff from it over the configuration period.

With that said, I hope you guys will understand. :)

So PUMPED!

The stream is still running at the time I'm writing this but the UT portion is already over, and I feel like writing a journal for this.

So a new Unreal Tournament has been officially announced, it will be a game developed by the Unreal Engine 4 User Community and will be overseen/directed by Epic Games at the helm. No game exists at this point in time since development literally starts TODAY!
The game will be free to download and play, though make no mistake, it won't be a F2P (Free-2-Play) title with microtransactions and stuff, it will literally be 100% FREE. The game will however include a market place where modders and independant developers will be able to post their optional content (mods, maps, player models, etc.) for free download or they can charge money for their work if they so desire. Epic will get a percentage of these sales on said marketplace and thats how they are going to pay for the game, the marketplace and charging money for ones content is completely optional though so I personally expect a lot of free content to choose from there.
Additionally the game will have no final build or final version since it will be a title that is going to be developed continuously with no end in sight, so we can expect to see regular updates happening.

There is not really much else to say at this point other than that it will be quite a while until a first alpha will come out. Also it's doubtful that a free version of the Unreal Engine 4 Editor will be made available for the larger crowd that just wants to do basic things, nothing has been said in regards to that yet though.

Last but not least, the games title will be "Unreal Tournament". Nothing else, just that, it was stated in the Livestream that most people know the original UT as UT99 and that this game wouldn't cause much confusion in that regard. We'll have to see about that, maybe once the game is progressing more a new title might pop up, we'll see, but for now, its just UT.

And thats all, I can't wait to see what direction this project will take in the coming months as it gets off the ground. =D

Hey everyone,

I'm working on new pictures at the moment but I'm waiting for the weekend to make some real progress on them, but to keep you guys a little in the loop, I'm happy to say that I just ordered my first set of COPIC Ciao markers, it's the "COPIC Ciao 36-A Set" to be more precise that consists out of 36 colours.

Additionally to that I ordered the COPIC Ciao Colourless Blender and some special DIN-A4 COPIC Bleedproof Marker Paper, I heard the latter helps saving a lot of Ink and allows for better blending.

I waited and saved up enough cash so I can get a jump start with 36 colours to choose from rather than the basic colours pack which has 12 Ciao markers in total. I tried to go with the cheapest 36 marker set I could find which, off course, has a downside to it, it comes straight from Japan, so I'll have to wait a few weeks until I can get to start working with them, but at least I saved some money. Considering that I never worked with them before, saving money is a good thing since I don't know yet if I'll actually enjoy colouring with them.

I also heard that Ciao's don't hold as much Ink as the Sketch or regular COPIC markers, so I hope they'll at least last a few pictures before I need to buy a new marker or buy the refill Ink for one of them. Considering I work mostly digital (except for sketching and Outline Inking) this is quite something for me to spend that much money on traditional art supplies, I really hope this works out and doesn't make me regret the purchase in the end. But if worst comes to worst, I think I can still sell them as semi-new.

As for you guys, that means I'll be doing at least a few pictures with markers in the near future, let's hope they'll look decent, you guys know that I'm not very good with colouring in traditional media (especially since I make so many mistakes)! ^^;
That's going to be, at the very least, a pretty interesting experiment! ;P

That's all for now. Have a good one guys! :meow:
